- The privilege of
membership in God’s family involves various responsibilities within
the church family, the body of Christ. The following are suggested
as some of those responsibilities:-
- MEMBERS are those
who acknowledge Jesus Christ as Lord and Saviour and who show
evidence of this in their daily lives. Ephesians 2: 8-10; 1 John
5:1-5.
- MEMBERS are
encouraged to demonstrate a commitment to the work of Christ by
participation in, and support of, the activities of the church in
reaching out to the unsaved world, and in caring for those in need
of practical and spiritual help. Matthew 28:19-20; Galatians 6:9-10
- MEMBERS are
encouraged to regularly contribute financially to the work of God
within the local assembly. 1 Corinthians 16:2; 2 Corinthians 9:6-8.
- MEMBERS are
required to recognise the authority of the elders of the assembly as
those responsible for the spiritual well being and guidance of all
members, and respect that authority according to the word of God.
Hebrews 13:17,
- MEMBERS are
encouraged to systematically study God’s Word, collectively and
individually. Joshua 1:8; 1 Timothy 4:13; 2 Timothy 2:15.
- Women and men
both play vital roles in the life and work of this local assembly.
